Slim Fast Diet Reviewed

by Dierdre Jones

Just about everyone has seen the Slim Fast diet advertised on television - a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and a sensible dinner. You can also have fruit or Slim Fast nutritional bar in addition to your shakes and sensible dinner. The great thing about the Slim Fast diet is that you will most likely lose weight, because you will only consume around 1200 to 1400 calories a day.

On the Slim Fast diet, you are encouraged to drink six to eight glasses of water a day, which you should already be doing. Drinking enough water daily helps to curve overeating. Also, you'll have to be careful that you are getting the proper amount of vitamins and minerals, because this can be difficult on such a restricted diet.

This is a pretty easy diet to follow because you only have to think about one meal, so it's great if you're on the go or have a demanding schedule.

The only problem with the Slim Fast diet is that you'll have to be careful when returning to a normal eating plan. This means making wise food choices and being sure to include exercise into your overall plan to keep the weight off for good. You should be looking to make a lifestyle change as far as eating is concerned.

Another good thing when you go off the the plan is that if you're prone to skipping breakfast, you can still have a shake and a piece of fruit for breakfast - so there's no reason to skip the most important meal of the day. You need to be sure to have breakfast each day to get your metabolism going and burn more calories.

And if you're like a lot of people, you may also fare better with the support and encouragement of a group. They are numerous forums and groups on the web both free and low cost that provide positive support and encouragement when you're trying to lose weight. It only requires a little research.

We highly recommend eDiets, which provides a wealth of positive weight loss information, support and programs if you're trying to lose weight and improve your overall health and fitness for the long term.
